Dryptosaurus aquilunguis

Although Dryptosaurus is known from only fragmentary remains, new interpretations of its place within the tyrannosaur tree, and recent discoveries of possibly related taxa (like Appalachiosaurus), have helped develop a picture of this dinosaur and what it might have looked like. My sculpture (2009) includes a speculative feathery coat, a brightly colored throat wattle, and a variety of fresh and healing scars.  This head was built for the Lake County Discovery Musuem in  Wauconda, Illinois.
